Late-night television host John Oliver wrapped up his memorable three-episode guest run on General Hospital with one of the soap’s most dramatic moments yet a powerful slap from veteran star Laura Wright.
Oliver, who portrayed the mysterious World Security Bureau (WSB) chief known simply as Z, made an explosive debut before ending his storyline in an emotionally charged confrontation with Carly Spencer, played by Wright. The clash centered on Carly’s daughter, Josslyn Jacks, whose involvement with the WSB has become a major source of conflict.
One of his requests was to be slapped, so he gets slapped.

During the tense exchange, Z defended Josslyn’s decision to remain a WSB agent, while Carly accused the organization of exploiting her daughter’s emotional vulnerability. When Z bluntly dismissed Carly’s pleas to bring her daughter home, Carly responded with a hard slap across his face—ironically fulfilling one of Oliver’s own wishes for his soap opera debut.
Earlier this year, the comedian publicly joked that if he ever appeared on a soap, he wanted a “juicy” storyline involving either slapping someone or getting slapped himself.
