More than 50 years after The Partridge Family became one of television’s most beloved family sitcoms, its cast continues to hold a special place in pop culture. Premiering in 1970, the musical comedy followed the adventures of a widowed mother and her five children as they formed a successful pop band, turning its young stars into household names.
Leading the cast was Academy Award winner Shirley Jones as family matriarch Shirley Partridge. Now in her 90s, Jones remains active in the entertainment world, making occasional public appearances while reflecting fondly on the show’s lasting legacy. Her portrayal of the loving mother helped define family television for an entire generation.

David Cassidy, who played eldest son Keith Partridge, became one of the biggest teen idols of the 1970s thanks to the show’s success. After enjoying a hugely successful music and acting career, Cassidy passed away in 2017 at the age of 67 following complications related to liver failure. His influence on pop culture and music continues to be celebrated by fans around the world.
Susan Dey, who portrayed Laurie Partridge, transitioned into a successful dramatic acting career after the series ended. She earned critical acclaim for her role in L.A. Law before largely stepping away from the public spotlight in recent years, choosing a more private life.
Danny Bonaduce, remembered for playing the mischievous Danny Partridge, continued working in television and radio after the sitcom. Despite facing personal struggles throughout his career, he has remained a recognizable media personality and has spoken openly about his health and life experiences.
The younger members of the Partridge family also followed different paths. Brian Forster, who replaced original child actor Jeremy Gelbwaks as Chris Partridge, eventually retired from acting, while Suzanne Crough, who played youngest daughter Tracy Partridge, passed away in 2015 at the age of 52. Jeremy Gelbwaks left Hollywood early and pursued a successful career outside the entertainment industry.
Although The Partridge Family aired for just four seasons before ending in 1974, its blend of comedy, music, and heartfelt family moments has ensured its enduring popularity. More than five decades later, the show’s unforgettable cast continues to be remembered for creating one of television’s most iconic musical families.
