Just two days after officiating the star-studded wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, Adam Sandler made headlines again—this time for an unexpected call to the Nantucket Police Department.
The 59-year-old actor wasn’t reporting an emergency. Instead, he phoned the department’s non-emergency line to ask a simple question: where he could find a pickup basketball game.
“Hey, I’m here on your island and I like to play basketball. Can you tell me where there’s a basketball court I could play on?

According to public safety dispatcher Chris Reynolds, Sandler said, “Hey, I’m here on your island and I like to play basketball. Can you tell me where there’s a basketball court I could play on?”
Police directed the Happy Gilmore star to the Backus Lane court, where he joined a group of local players for an impromptu game. One of the players, Andrew Kesler, recalled Sandler arriving, stretching, and asking to jump in before praising his court skills.
“Great passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball,” Kesler said of the Hollywood star’s performance.

Basketball has long been one of Sandler’s favorite hobbies. Hours before officiating Swift and Kelce’s July 3 wedding, he was also spotted playing pickup basketball in New York despite the summer heat.
Sandler’s close friendship with the newlyweds made him a natural choice to officiate the ceremony. He has previously worked with Kelce on Happy Gilmore 2 and has often spoken warmly about Swift, describing her as incredibly kind to his family.
