Former Saturday Night Live star and late-night host Seth Meyers has shared a behind-the-scenes look at how he keeps in touch with his former castmates—and one group chat has an unforgettable name.
Speaking on the Hey Jonas podcast, Meyers revealed that the funniest-named chat he’s part of is called “The Tripod,” a group featuring Amy Poehler, Meyers, and longtime producer Michael Shoemaker. He described the chat as “lovingly supportive,” saying it remains one of his favorite ways to stay connected with close friends from his SNL days.

Meyers also said he’s in another group chat with fellow Saturday Night Live alumni Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader, although that chat doesn’t have a memorable name.
When asked who is the funniest texter among his former castmates, Meyers quickly singled out Armisen. He recalled receiving a Father’s Day voice message in which Armisen impersonated Homer Simpson after learning Meyers hadn’t gotten any doughnuts that morning.
The message left such an impression that Meyers joked it was “better than a thousand doughnuts,” calling Armisen the funniest person to text with, whether in a group chat or privately.
The lighthearted exchange offered fans another glimpse into the enduring friendships forged at Saturday Night Live, showing that the comedy continues long after the show’s cast members leave Studio 8H.
